DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES FOR RECRUITMENT COMPANY OWNERS

A Mackinnon Group Breakfast Briefing for business owners to be held on July 26th 2005 at Kirtons Farm, Reading

At a crossroads with your business? Not sure which way to move forward?

A recent REC/Deloitte Report on Jobs showed that recruitment consultancies’ permanent staff placements and temporary staff billings continued to rise in April of this year though the rate of demand growth slowed to a 16 month low. The market is becoming increasingly competitive and company owners are looking at trying to find the direction they want for their businesses and themselves.

Ben Blackden will be making a short presentation over breakfast that provides useful guidance for recruitment company owners looking for direction or ideas. The presentation will cover:

  • An snapshot of the realities faced by the staffing industry at the present time
  • Relevant growth and defensive strategies for company owners:
    • Expansion into new sectors
    • Maintaining market share despite declining margins
    • Do’s and don’ts of an acquisition strategy
    • Key issues when considering a sale

Session Speaker: Ben Blackden

With over 15 years experience in the Recruitment Sector and many years commercial and human resource management experience, Ben has considerable expertise in assessing options for development and understanding the benefits they can provide. In 1990, he started two companies that later became Professional Staff leading the company’s development from start-up to revenues of $150 million in 10 years. He led the company’s successful IPO on NASDAQ in1996 and subsequently made more than 10 acquisitions giving him a clear perception on what is necessary to make such integrations work. As a key influencer in the recruitment sector he has helped drive changes over recent years encouraging agencies to work as strategic partners with their clients
